David assisted director Grant Thompson in filming and producing parts of Man & the Sea, a film exploring the stigma of age through the lens of 69–year–old big wave surfer Christy Davis. David filmed verité, conducted interviews and collaborated with the production team – which included two Emmy award winners.

The production took place during a historic surf season and David etched his name in this history. He filmed Peter Mel’s “wave of a lifetime,” capturing the only land angle of the ride, which at the time became Surfline’s most-viewed Instagram video ever.
